One of the main featured advantages of lap bands is that they are supposedly reversible. That seems logical, if it is not working, just take it out. However, in our experience, even after removing the lap band, the scarring on the stomach that remains often leaves people with difficulties in swallowing and reflux.
Therefore, the lap band is not fully reversible. Before committing to weight loss surgery, make sure that you talk to your surgeon about all the surgical options available. Besides lap bands, please consider sleeve gastrectomy or gastric bypass. Each type of surgery has their own pros and cons.
